Sponsored Walk

To celebrate a significant birthday Lion President Devan, with friends, set out to walk the Wayfarer's Way from Inkpen in Bershire to the seaside in Emsworth.

For this epic 70 mile walk, over 5 days, Lion President Devan was joined by his wife, Bridget, and squash friend Chris. Fellow Eastleigh Lion Chris Shehan joined the party for the last 30 miles (two days).

This sponsored charity walk set out to raise money for the new 'Energy' youth centre in Eastleigh, and the children's hospital in Kimry, Russia. This latter project is a joint venture with our twin club of Kornwestheim, Germany. (see twin club section).

The walk started at InkpenBeacon, Berkshire, and ended in Emsworth, Hampshire on the coast.

The route passed through hamlets and villages, the famous 'Watership Down', woods and fields. With several 'mountains', or what seemed like mountains, the walkers were never able to settled down to a gentle stroll.

Overall a total in excess of 1,700 was raised, along with several blisters and pulled muscles.

Roll on next year!!!
