Balloon Race

The latest balloon race held in June 2012 was won by Jacob from Eastleigh whose balloon travelled as far as Chichester. He received a family voucher for Gambado (Monkey Business).

Balloons were sold at the Eastleigh Mela. Well done Jacob.

The club held its first balloon race at the fete associated with Eastleigh Carnival in 2010. The weather was rather changeable, varying from strong sunshine to torrential rain so this kept down the number of visitors to the recreation ground.

Whilst not the most financially successful of events it did provide much excitement, and amusement, to those hardy people buying balloons.

We are awaiting telephone calls from areas to the east of our location, where the balloons will have landed, to see which had travelled furthest.

By the closing date of 31 August three balloons had been found and reported.

The winning balloons were

No 62    Canal Walk, Portsmouth

No 49    Ordance Row, Portsmouth

No 25    Elson Road, Gosport

No 54    Clive Grove, Portchester

No 46    Fareham

The weather was fair but numbers were less than last year, but those they attend the fair seemed to enjoy themselves.
